on 2010-07-03First of all, I want to say that this is a very nice desk when it's assembled. It also feels pretty sturdy and durable. The wood is of average quality, and considering the price of the desk, it's a pretty good deal.
The assembly of the desk is where the two stars come from. I work in construction/home repair, so putting things like this together is a pretty simple task. I always use my own tools, but try and use the hardware that comes with the product as often as I can. For this product, I had to use about 90% of my own hardware. The screws did not match the holes that were pre-drilled into the wooden pieces. I may be an isolated incident, (judging off of the other reviews I'm not) but if I were to force some of the screws into the allocated holes, I would have damaged the exterior of the wood by peeling away some of the charcoal colored film on the surface of the wood. I had to use a power drill because the little screwdriver that came with the desk was made out of a poor grade metal, that felt as soft as lead. I got the desk completely assembled in just over 1 1/2 hours, which I can't imagine how long it would take to use the tools and hardware that came with the desk.
If you own a power drill and have your own hardware, I highly recommend this product for it is actually a nice desk that looks really good when assembled. If you don't own a power drill, then I hope you have a ton of patience and time, because you will probably need it.

on 2010-06-09The desk is stylish and looks great after it is assembled. The assembly however is a nightmare. The screws are not clearly marked and a powerful electric screwdriver is definately needed. A drill or screwdriver is also needed to open up the poorly drilled guide holes. Also, the screws are not the best quality and easy to strip if you do not get it correct the first time. The parts are labeled, however; the instruction booklet does not have the best directions and you need to jump ahead a few steps to make sure the part is in the correct direction. Just be sure to have plenty of time, patience, and more time to put it together.

on 2010-05-28The desk is not black. It is actually a dark brown. I put it together at night so I did not notice this till the next morning. That was disapointing because the rest of the furniture in our office is all black. But I did not want to have to take it a part and send it back. The holes for the drawers do not line up right and I had to make my own. So the drawers are not lined up correctly. The instructions are not very clear. It is a nice looking desk though. I put it together by myself with a power drill and it took about 5 hours.

on 2009-12-27First off, this desk is perfect for anybody with a basic computer set up. You got you Mid-tower storage area on the bottum right, and there is enough room for cables sticking out of the Tower on the back and the wires go thru back port of the desk... NICE!!
On the other side you got a drawer for files (wires and gizmos for me) and office stuff, and there is a thinner drawer above that one. Above the second thinner drawer is a slide out tray which is very convient for lets say a small scanner or something like that... I'm gonna put my PS3 there :-# Behind that slide out tray slightly above it is another convient Cable Port #cable/wire pass-tru)for Wires...again NICE!!
So far the following has been describled, the CPU Piller, and the 2-drawer/Slide out Tray.
Ok now moving up is the Middle of the desk, there are two empty section above each piller (there is a small gray/metal piece in each one for support..very sturdy# These empty section are Great for Power Supplies/Surge protectors and Game Consoles and other stuff.
Ok moving slightly up is the Keyboard tray what can I say... It a basic one with Stops#for safety#, my keyboard fits good enough their, but you really can't have the mouse there.
OK now for the desk area, ample enought for 2 or 3 LCD Monitors #I've tried this before.. though only 2 worked with my video card...different story..)and the little side stand is currently holding my TV antenna and Lamp, though I did have my second LCD (20in) there for a while.
well thats all their is too say.
Oh one more thing, I got mine on clearance from Stapls for a good deal, I would Say that $159 sounds about right.
